PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate adverse effect that is caused by the dust attached to an optical system to an image projected on a screen by adhering airtightly a glass plate of the prescribed thickness on the end face of a glass rod integrator set at its outputted and preventing the dust attached on the said end face from being projected on the screen. SOLUTION: The light sent from a light source H01 travels straight on a center line and goes toward a glass rod integrator H04, and the light radiated in the side direction is reflected on a reflecting surface of an elliptic reflector H02 and goes toward the integrator H04. An ultraviolet/infrared cut filter H03 is placed between the light source H01 and the integrator H04 to eliminate the harmful components such as the ultraviolet and infrared rays which are contained in the light sent from the light source H01. The light incident on the integrator H04 is transmitted through a glass plate H05 and goes into a relay lens H06. Then the plate H05 is adhered to the lens H06 to form no air gap on the light emitting surface of the integrator H04.
