PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve reliability when conducting bidirectional communication by using ECP mode of IEEE(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) 1284 Standards for an interface with a host device. SOLUTION: A host device 1 transfers print data for a receivable size reported from a printer unit 2, and until the receivable size is reported again from the printer unit 2, the next print data are not transferred so that the reception buffer full state of the printer unit 2 can be prevented. Additionally, the receivable size can be changed by a designation from a user and can be changed to an optimum receivable size in matching with the transfer performance of the host device 1.
