摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical transmission device where an optical device integrated body being equipped with a light source that hardly varies in wavelength of light with a temperature change and an outer modulator that is lessened in parasitic capacitance is mounted with high mechanical stability. SOLUTION: An optical transmission device is possessed of an optical device equipped with a modulator that externally modulates light outputted from a semiconductor laser. An edge face emission-type semiconductor laser which emits non- modulated light is used as the above semiconductor laser, an integrated body 106 comprises the semiconductor laser and the modulator, the control electrodes of the semiconductor laser and the modulator both formed just over the waveguide of the integrated body 106 are junction-mounted through the intermediary of solder material to a laser derive electrode 123 and an optical modulator drive electrode 125 which are separately formed on an optical device mounting board 105. By this setup, a semiconductor laser where an outer modulator is monolithically integrated can be mechanically stably junction-down mounted without deteriorating the fact that it is low in capacitance. An optical transmission device applicable to a wavelength standard channel and suitable for a high-density wavelength multiplexing optical communication can be realized keeping its yield high.
