nuclear engineering. SUBSTANCE: uranium-graphite reactor core is built up of fuel assemblies with fuel elements composed of uranium dioxide doped with erbium oxide Er2O3. Erbium oxide content in nuclear fuel is 0.46 to 0.64 mass percent with respect to erbium at mass proportion of U-235 in nuclear fuel between 2.6 and 2.8 mass percent. Optimal content of erbium oxide in nuclear fuel of fuel assembly is 0.5 0.04 or 0.6 0.04 mass percent with respect to erbium. Such composition provides for reducing number of fuel assemblies per unit of generated energy and amount of spent nuclear fuel, decreases steam coefficient of reactivity and variations in energy release, reduces maximal linear load on fuel elements.
