PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a thin air cleaner and to enhance installation performance by constructing the fan unit of a turbo fan, a motor and a bell mouth secured integrally to a motor base and containing the fan unit in a housing thereby reducing the height of an air cleaner. SOLUTION: An air cleaner suitable for installing in a limited space, e.g. the upper surface of a production machine or the upper surface of a carrying passage in a clean room, has a body housing 1 fixed to the ceiling surface of a clean room and a fan unit 3 is inserted into an opening 101 made in the upper surface of the body housing 1 from the upper surface side and secured in place. The fan unit 3 comprises a bell mouth section 4 having an air intake, a turbo fan 8, a motor 8 for rotary driving the turbo fan 8, and a motor base 5 for securing the motor 6. According to the structure, height of the fan unit 3 can be decreased while satisfying the requirements of enhancing performance, e.g. elevated static pressure.
