The invention relates to the use of compounds having NMDA antagonist activity and/or sodium channel antagonist activity for the treatment of inflammatory disorders. Preferred compounds of the invention include compounds of formula (I), where: R<1> is pyridyl, phenyl or 4-fluorophenyl; R<2> is phenyl or 4-fluorophenyl; R<3> is hydrogen, C1-6 alkyl or methoxycarbonyl; R<4> is hydrogen or methyl; and R<5> is hydrogen or COCH2NH2, and metabolites thereof both as free base and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof.
