Pattern creation on flat glass, by ice crystal transfer from chambers of a crystal accommodation plate (2) through a pattern plate (10) onto an adhesive coated glass sheet (20), is new. A pattern is created on flat glass using ice crystals by (a) producing an accommodation plate (2) of shape-stable easily machined lightweight material, e.g. foam, having crystal reception chambers (4); (b) placing a pattern plate (10) on the collection plate (2); (c) placing the adhesive coated side of a glass sheet (20) on the pattern plate (10); (d) turning the assembly through 180 deg C and back again to bond crystals onto the glass sheet (20) in accordance with the pattern of the pattern plate (10); and (e) heating at 530-590 deg C to melt the crystals on the glass sheet.
