Filter surface denaturing coating production uses a coating material containing metals or metal alloys with an oligodynamic metal action. In the production of denaturing coatings on filter surfaces by the method described in Patent Application DE 19807295.3 (18.02.1998), the coating material comprises metals or metal alloys with an oligodynamic metal action. Preferred Features: The metals or metal alloys may be present in powder form in the coating material or may be porous metals or metal alloys which form the filter surfaces themselves. The coating material includes halogen-containing media, especially an iodine-containing substance.
