A sleeping bag has two arm portions 10, 12 and bears surface decoration 32, 34, 36, 38 representing a figure of a human, an animal or a fantasy subject such as a cartoon character. The bag may have two leg portions 16, 18, and the arm and/or the leg portions may have closed ends 24, 26, 28, 30 which may be detachable. The closed ends of the legs may have soles formed from non-slip material (76). There may be a hood portion (40). The bag may also be shaped according to the figure represented by the decoration, and may have additional structural features such as pleats or tucks (58, 60) associated with the figure. The decoration may comprise printing, weaving and/or applied fabrics, which may be applied directly to the bag or form a separate cover for the bag The closure means for the bag 20 may connect with a neck opening 22of the bag, and extend along a shoulder and arm portion of the bag.
