PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display(LCD) device is provided to improve light efficiency as well as to attain high brightness which is required for realizing a big size of LCD panel. CONSTITUTION: A liquid crystal display device includes a pair of substrates(SUB1,SUB2), a liquid crystal display panel(LC), an upper and lower polarization plates(POL1,POL2), and a light source(LP). At least one of substrates(SUB1,SUB2) includes electrode, and a liquid crystal layer is scanned between the two substrates. The upper and lower polarization plates(POL1,POL2) are implemented so as to contain the LCD panel. The light source illuminates the LCD panel from the rear surface. A controller applies voltage according to a display image signal. An optical film member is positioned between the LCD panel and the light source in order to control the reflectivity when the light from the back light is irradiated into the LCD panel.
