PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seat back for automobile which makes the head rest easily movable in the vertical direction keeping the function to securely receive the head part of a driver upon a rear-end collision. SOLUTION: This seat back is constituted of a seat back frame 2, a support means 7 which is equipped rotatable in the longitudinal direction on the upper end part of the seat back frame 2 and supported by movable in the vertical direction, a head rest holder 6 to bridge between the upper end parts 7a of the support means 7, a head rest 3 supported vertically movable by the head rest holder 6, and a support pressure receiving member 15 which becomes movable when the side end parts of the seat back frame 2 received the second collision with the back of a driver generated by the forward shock load by a rear-end collision, etc., and supports the lower end part 7b of the support means 7. A power lifter 18 to make the head rest holder 6 movable up/down is equipped in between the head rest holder 6 and the pressure receiving member 15.
