DRIVE CONTROLLER AND CONTROL METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate difference in the quantity of among recording heads by driving transfer elements in a specified light source unit sequentially with a lighting control signal indicative of unlighting of a lighting element. SOLUTION: Magenta M, cyan C, yellow Y and black imaging sections 320-317 comprise SLEDs(self scanning LED arrays) 210-213 where transfer thyristors are arranged in array. Transfer control signal between adjacent elements is applied externally and light emitting thyristors are arranged in parallel with the transfer thyristors. Transfer operation is conducted for a transfer thyristor connected with a light emitting thyristor in each SLED head 210-212 not emitting light and the temperature of an SLED head 210-212 not emitting light is brought close to the temperature of a monochromatic SLED head 213 emitting light.
