PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically command best skip down shift and a single step down shift by setting maximum engine speed selected for preventing excessive combustion after down shift, and maximum engine speed selected so as to be a little lower than the speed as two reference values. SOLUTION: In large skip down shift from the present connected gear ratio GR to the GR-3, after completing down shift to GR-3, desired maximum engine speed ESDES selected for preventing excessive combustion of an engine and estimated engine speed ESGR-3 are compared with each other, and in the case of ESGR-3<ESDES, the down shift operation to GR-3 is begun. In the case of not ESGR-3<ESDES, estimated engine speed ESGR-2 at completing single step skip down shift to GR-2 is compared with the desired maximum engine speed ESDES, and in the case of ESGR-2<ESDES, down shift operation to GR-2 is begun. |
