PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a finely porous polyethylene membrane useful as a separator for a battery, especially for a high capacitance battery, and capable of preventing the shortage of the battery, when the battery is excessively charged. SOLUTION: A finely porous polyethylene membrane has a pore-closing temperature Tf of <=134 deg.C, and has a melting temperature Tm expressed by the following relation inequality: Tm-Tf>0, and a separator for a battery comprises the finely porous membrane. |
