PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a printed matter having no image skip or no unevenness of a printing density without generating a spoiled printed matter even in the case of replacing and using a drum. SOLUTION: A drum sensing means 4 senses mounting of a new drum unit 11 at a printer body. A control means 3 reads an ending time of using the unit 11 from a storage means 7, obtains a leaving time, and executes automatic idling when the time exceeds a predetermined time. In the automatic idling, a stencil base sheet of an unengraved state is wound on the unit 11, and a pressing roller is pressed predetermined times while maintaining a printing sheet remained interposed between the drum and the roller.
