PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a uniform coating film by a simple method. SOLUTION: For example, a plastic lens 1 produced by injection molding has a gate portion (unnecessary portion) 5 provided to the outer peripheral portion thereof and, in such a state that the gate portion 5 is supported by a support jig 7, the lens 1 is immersed in a coating soln. 8. Subsequently, the lens 1 is drawn up from the coating soln. 8 and the adhering coating soln. on the lens is cured, for example, by ultraviolet irradiation to form a coating film. Thereafter, the support jig 7 is detached from the lens 1 and the gate portion 5 is cut and removed. A uniform coating film free from a built-up portion is formed on the first and second surfaces of the lens 1.
