PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably obtain a coated article not generating process contamination caused by non-drying in a drying process by avoiding the thick coating of the end part in a lateral direction with respect to a member to be coated (support) and preventing excessive thick coating fitted with a coating head liquid. SOLUTION: In a curtain coating method using a curtain coating apparatus equipped with a coater die 1 capable of supplying at least one layer of a coating soln., a pair of edge guides supporting both lateral ends of a curtain film formed from the coating soln. from the coater die 1 and a liquid receiving pan 30 wider than the curtain film arranged between the leading ends of the edge guides and a member to be coated so as to interrupt the curtain film before the start of coating, the distance from the position where the curtain film before the start of coating and the liquid receiving pan 30 come into contact with each other to the nearest leading end of the liquid receiving pan 30 is set to 25-100 mm and, after the curtain film is moved over the distance at a speed of 20-200 mm/sec by moving the liquid receiving pan 30 at a time of the start of coating, the coating to the member to be coated is started.
