PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating apparatus equipped with a good coating bar having durability. SOLUTION: In a coating apparatus for continuously applying a coating soln. containing at least abrasive particles to a continuously running base 1 to form a coating film and immediately weighing the coating film by a coil bar 22 around which a wire 10 is wound opposed to the base 1 to adjust the thickness of the coating film, the coil bar 22 has a diameter of 3 mm or less and is constituted so that the surface of the coil bar is coated with a hard carbon film by at least one method among a sputtering method and a plasma CVD method.
