PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display device and method for manufacturing the same are provided to enlarge the aperture of switching device such as TFT and color filters in order to make an on-array color filter structure liquid crystal display device. CONSTITUTION: A liquid crystal display device includes a transparent dielectric substrate(1), a switching device, a passivation layer, color filters(13), a black matrix(15), an overcoat layer(14), a pixel electrode(9), an output electrode, and a contact hole(II). The switching device is formed on the transparent dielectric substrate(1). The passivation layer is formed to protect the switching device. The color filters(13) is formed on the passivation layer. The black matrix(15) is formed on the passivation after the formation of the color filters as a light barrier. The overcoat layer(14) is formed on the black matrix. The pixel electrode(9) is formed on the overcoat layer. The output electrode is provided to each of the switching device to be coupled with the pixel electrode. The contact hole(II) is formed through the overcoat layer and the passivation layer in order to connect the pixel electrode with the output layer.
