PURPOSE: A control method of speed reduction for an automatic transmission is provided to control an engine speed effectively, and to give a reasonable transmission motion CONSTITUTION: A control method of speed reduction for automatic transmission contains the following processes: for a vehicle to be provided with a foot brake system and an engine brake system for manual control: a process to set up default values corresponding to the engine speed to receive an order of speed reduction; a process to sense an operation of an engine brake system ; a processes to increase the default value as one in case an operation of engine brake system is sensed.
