摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To rapidly carried out combustion stabilizing control, reduce the maximum value of engine rotating speed just after start, and reduce vibration, noise, and emission by detecting fuel property on the basis of the maximum value or its near value of the engine rotating speed detected in a prescribed period just after engine start. SOLUTION: In an ECU 12 during operation of an internal combustion engine 10, when it is judged that a water temperature measured by a water temperature sensor 19 is within a prescribed value, an idling condition is detected by a throttle opening sensor 48, and engine rotating speed NE found out from an output of a crank angle sensor 62 is less than a prescribed value (i); it is judged that a property of fuel is a heavy fuel. In case of NE>i, it is judged that the property of fuel is soft fuel. In the case where it is judged that the fuel property is the heavy fuel even one time just after start, combustion stabilizing control such as intake synchronous injection control for injecting fuel in a valve opening period of an intake valve 34, injection rate increasing control, and ignition timing advance phase control, is carried out in order to ensure combustion stability.
