PURPOSE: An apparatus for compensating edges of a brightness signal is provided to compensate the brightness signal separated from a mixed video signal to have constant brightness signal component. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for compensating edges of a brightness signal includes a phase delayers, a calculator(40), a filter, and a controller. The phase delayers delays the phase of a brightness data on input line bases to generate brightness data of each phase delayed result. The calculator(40) calculates the brightness compensation value for an arbitrary pixel. The filter filters the brightness data and outputs the result. The controller varies a set band according to the calculated brightness compensation value.
