PURPOSE: A producing method is provided to produce a spring steel for producing a spring used for vehicle components such as an engine, a clutch, a fuel sprayer and a suspension system and to produce structure elements such as rolling wires, annealing wire, a spring or steel wire using spring steel. CONSTITUTION: Spring steel has a chemical composition able to obtain excellent mechanical characteristics(tensile strength and elongation) and drawing characteristic(without excessive hardening process). The spring steel is composed of 0.38 to 0.85 wt% of carbon, from 0.25 to 2.10 wt% of silicon, from 0.2 to 1.0 wt% of manganese, more than 0.035 wt% of phosphor, more than 0.035 wt% of sulfur, more than one(less than 2.5 wt% total) selected among from 0.65 to 1.5 wt% of chrome, from 0.1 to 0.5 wt% of molybdenum, from 0.05 to 0.50 wt% of vanadium, from 0.2 to 0.5 wt% of nickel, from 0.02 to 0.5 wt% of niobium, from 0.02 to 0.09 wt% of titanium and from 0.1 to 0.3 wt% of copper, iron and impurities. According to necessity, additive elements are contained to fit to a certain request.
