PURPOSE: Provided is an absorbent article of which a liquid accumulation material is used with optimal absorbency. And the absorbent article has no mark to be used on the surface contacting with a body CONSTITUTION: Provided is an absorbent article (10), in particular a sanitary towel, having the following structure: a lower layer (12) which faces the body when the absorbent article is in use and is impermeable to fluid; a primary accumulation layer (14) which is disposed above the fluid-impermeable layer (12); a secondary accumulation layer (20) disposed above the primary accumulation layer (14); a compensation layer (32) disposed above the secondary accumulation layer (20); a cover layer (34) which is disposed above the compensation layer (32) and has a central opening (36); and a fluid-permeable upper layer (40) which faces the body when the absorbent article is in use.
