<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid erroneous detection of receiver's address region of a mail having outside address regions and heighten the detection precision of the receiver's address region by subtracting the possibility of sender's address region from the possibility of receiver's address region in consideration of the possibility of the sender in senders' region having address structure which is not of receiver's at the time of detecting receiver's region. SOLUTION: At the time of detecting receiver's address region of a mail, a plurality of receiver's address region candidates including receiver's address region are generated from postal image sent out of an input apparatus 1 such as a scanner or the like by a receiver's address candidate generating means 21 of a data processing apparatus 2. Then, characteristic quantities necessary for computing the possibilities of receiver's address region and sender's address region from a plurality of candidates by a characteristic quantity extracting means 22 and the possibility of receiver's address and the possibility of sender's address of respective receiver's address candidates are computed using a receiver-sender address distribution dictionary 31 based on the characteristic quantities by a means for computing the possibilities of receiver's and sender's addresses. After that, all of the receiver's address candidates are arranged according to the higher points by an order determination means 24 and a prescribed number of the sender's address candidates are selected from the first in order and sent out by an output candidate determination means 25.</p> |
