PURPOSE: A multiplexing/demultiplexing apparatus between a TUG-2(Tributary Unit Group-2) and an STM-1(Synchronous Transport Module-1) in the fiber loop carrier system is provided to carry out a multiplexing/demultiplexing function between a TUG-2 and an STM-1. CONSTITUTION: An AU-3(Administrative Unit-3) formation unit(310) receives a TUG-2 and outputs it into an AU-3. An STM-1 formation unit(320) forms an STM-1 by multiplexing a section overhead to the AU-3. A scrambler(330) carries out scrambling for the STM-1. An optical connection unit(340) converts the scrambling processed STM-1 into an optical signal. An STM-1 receiving unit(350), after carrying out descrambling for the STM-1 searched from the electrical data outputted from the optical connection unit(340), outputs an AUG(Administrative Unit Group). An AU-3 extraction unit(360) extracts and outputs a VC-3(Virtual Container-3). A TUG-2 extraction unit(370) extracts the TUG-2 from the VC-3 outputted from the AU-3 extraction unit(360).
