PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject detergent excellent in cleaning effects, creamy and rich foaming, quick defoaming, a refreshing and fine feeling of use for bare skin and stability of a base with time by including an N-acyl amino acid alkali salt, a maltitol hydroxy-aliphatic ether, water and an organic acid. SOLUTION: This detergent is obtained by including (A) an N-acyl amino acid alkali salt (preferably an N-acyl glicinate) in an amount of preferably 1-50 wt.% based on the total amount of the detergent, (B) a maltitol hydroxy- aliphatic ether in an amount of preferably 0.01-5 wt.% based on the total amount of the detergent, (C) water and (D) an organic acid and preferably further (E) a water-soluble compound having hydroxy groups (e.g. glycerol) in an amount of preferably 5-20 wt.% based on the total amount of the detergent. A sodium salt is preferred as the alkali salt of the ingredient A. The amount of the formulated ingredient A based on the total amount of the detergent is 1-20 wt.% in the case of a liquid form, 5-50 wt.% in the case of a pasty form and 40-90 wt.% in the case of a solid form.
