PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a fire of an exhaust duct and to improve handling operability. SOLUTION: In the combustion equipment, an exhaust side of a water heater 1 is connected to a main duct passage 3 through an exhaust hood 5, and exhaust gas of the heater 1 is exhausted to the passage 3 through the hood 5. The equipment comprises an exhaust gas temperature detecting means for detecting a temperature of an exhaust gas exhausted from the hood 5 to the passage 3, and an atmospheric temperature detecting means for detecting a temperature of the circumference of the heater 1. Thus, a threshold value temperature is variably set in an allowable variable range in response to the detected atmospheric temperature of the atmospheric temperature detecting means, and, when the detected temperature of the exhaust gas temperature detecting means exceeds the threshold value temperature, combustion of the heater 1 is stopped to prevent a fire of the duct. If the atmospheric temperature is high, a problem of wrong handling operability caused by frequent stops of combustions due to a rising temperature of the exhaust gas to the passage 3 though an exhaust gas sucking force of the passage 3 is normal is prevented.
