PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inexpensively and safely obtain the subject amineborane that is useful as a reducing agent for plating by allowing a salt of an amine to react with sodium borohydride in an organic solvent, evaporating the organic solvent, adding an alkali hydroxide aqueous solution to the residue after evaporation, collecting this organic phase and distilling off the solvent from the organic layer. SOLUTION: In an organic solvent, preferably 1,2-dimethoxy-ethane, a salt of an amine, for example, a dimethyl-ammonium salt (for example, dimethylamine hydrochloride) and sodium borohydride are allowed to react with each other, preferably at a molar ratio of 1/(1.0-1.1), preferably at 5-30 deg.C for about 50-60 hours, then distilling off the organic solvent, adding an alkali hydroxide aqueous solution, preferably 0.1-12N sodium hydroxide aqueous solution to the residue to form the organic phase and the aqueous phase, collecting the organic phase, distilling off the organic solvent to obtain the objective compound, for example, trihydro(N-methyl-methanamine)boron or the like.
