PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a cosmetic capable of controlling the development of unfavorable action such as dryness by making the cosmetic include powder and a trehalose. SOLUTION: This cosmetic contains (A) powder, preferably powder composed of compound metal oxide (e.g. titanium dioxide or zinc oxide) and (B) trehalose and its related substance (e.g. sodium trehalose sulfate or trehalose acetate). Preferably the cosmetic comprises 1-60 wt.% of the component A and 0.01-10 wt.% of the component B. The cosmetic can contain an arbitrary component useful in an ordinary cosmetic such as a hydrocarbon, an ester, a triglyceride, a higher alcohol, a fatty acid, a polyhydric alcohol, a nonionic surfactant, an anionic surfactant, a cationic surfactant, an amphoteric surfactant, a thickener, an antiseptic, an ultraviolet light absorber and an antioxidant besides the above- mentioned essential components.
