<p>PURPOSE: A joining method and a device for use in the method are provided to join dissimilar materials having a low weld ability to each other at a low cost. CONSTITUTION: In a method and a device for joining flat products, the method comprises step of joining flat products(3,4) made from metal materials, which products(3,4) are to be connected such that they overlap. Joining is brought about in a roll nip between two roller(1,2) into which the flat products(3,4) are introduced at an acute angle. Before the flat products(3,4) are pressed against each other in the roll nip, they are heated by radiant energy from the energy source(5) at their mutually facing surfaces but they are not melted. By suitable profiling of at least one roller shell or one flat product, the surface pressure is restricted to the region of the lap joint, and material flow transversely to the direction of this lap joint is prevented.</p> |
