PURPOSE: An organic electroluminescent element and method therefor are provided to reduce leakage current and improve light emitting efficiency by inserting an electron injection layer to stabilize and to easily achieve electron injection. CONSTITUTION: An organic electroluminescent element includes an electron injection layer (9) of alkali metal amide compound or alkali earth metal amide compound between a second electrode (4) and an organic luminescent layer (7), at least one organic luminescent layer formed between a first electrode (2) and the second electrode by injecting gas or activated gas during formation of the electron injection layer.
