PURPOSE: An apparatus for estimating a channel of a wireless communication system and control method therefor is provided to enhance a reliability of a recovery data by adaptively estimating a channel characteristic and compensating an optimum channel. CONSTITUTION: A complex inverse diffuser(20) has multipliers(22,24,26,28) for multiplying an in-phase signal(I) and a quadri-phase signal(Q) by an I-PN code and a Q-PN code, an adder(30) for adding outputs of multiplies(22,24), and an adder(34) for adding outputs of multipliers(26,28). First and second integrators(34,36) integrate inverse-diffused signals during a predetermined time and provide in-phase and quadri-phase pilot signals having a channel characteristic which is remained after a user data component is removed to first and second adaptive filters(37,38) and one side of multipliers(40,42).
