PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a repellent and a repelling member, being convenient, sanitary, and highly safe, capable of widely and surely repelling rats, cockroaches, termites, birds, etc., from coming near while keeping a pleasant space. SOLUTION: This repellent is obtained by allowing an essential oil component such as camphor and Japanese peppermint oil, or boric acid to be included in a paste obtained by allowing the paste consisting essentially of a water-soluble or water-insoluble polymer to include a ground product of a scaly bulb of Lycoris radiata, or an extract thereof, or filling a container with a lid having a big diameter with the paste. Further, the repellent is obtained by spreading the paste on a supporter such as a nonwoven fabric, a woven cloth and a film to provide a prescribed thickness and to form a seat-like shape. The repellent member is obtained by directly coating the pasty material of the repellent on the member requiring a direct repelling activity, or allowing the material requiring the direct repelling activity to include the repellent when producing is the material requiring the repelling activity.
