PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the durability of a shim plate by a simple and inexpensive structure in a disc brake. SOLUTION: Each pair of stopper surfaces 12a, 12a opposed to each other in the rotational direction of a disc rotor 30 is formed on side end parts on the peripheral and inner circumferential sides of the dick rotor 30 of the rear plate 12 of a friction pad 10. A shim plate 20 is arranged on the back of the rear plate 12. The shim plate 20 has in its periphery a locking part 20a projected toward a disc rotor 30 side between the pair of stopper surfaces 12a, 12a, and is locked to the rear plate 12 by the locking part 20a. Cutouts 20a1, 20a1 as avoiding. means are respectively formed on both the side parts of the base end part of the locking part 20a.
