PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bearing member of excellent practical applicability and working easiness capable of preventing balls from falling off from an infinite circulating path at the time of assembly by restricting the sliding motion of a retainer relative to the outer cylinder. SOLUTION: A retainer 2 is installed as hindered from turning relative to an outer cylinder 1 in such an arrangement that one 1/2 is slidable in the longitudinal direction relative to the other, and the retainer 2 is in one direction slidable freely and not slidable in the other direction farther than the position where an infinite circulating path 3 provided in the retainer 2 is not exposed or the position where eventual exposure remains in such an amount as not causing falling-off of balls 4 set in the infinite circulating path 3 even if the path 3 protrudes from the end of the outer cylinder 1.
