PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain space saving of a container terminal. SOLUTION: This terminal comprises a container storage device 30, a building 50 provided adjacent to a sea side of the container storage device 30 to have a flat roof lower than it, a container crane 8a traveling on the building 50 to perform loading/unloading of a container from a container ship, a traverser 20 loading the container to run or traverse on the roof of the building or in the container storage device 30 and giving/receiving the container between the traverser and the container crane, and a temporarily placing carriage traveling on the building 50 to temporarily place a hatch cover carried by the container crane 8a.
