PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protective body for a steel plate winding coil with superior strength resistance and impact resistance, also with rustproof effect, which particularly prevents the damage to a sheet of the peripheral end edge of the coil, provides the easiness of being folded and the easiness of being fitted on the coil end peripheral face and simply and securely protects the coil end peripheral edge. SOLUTION: A protective body for a steel plate winding coil 1 is fitted at least on one end peripheral face, and the protective body 1 is formed of a protective body main body 2 and a plurality of folded pieces 4 formed integrally on the main body 2 through folding and connecting sections 3, and the protective body main body 2 and respective folded pieces 4 are integrally molded by using synthetic resin. Also a channel 5 is formed on the inner face side of the connecting section 3, and the channel 5 is formed as a relief section deeper than the peripheral end edge of the coil when the coil is fitted, and through-holes 6 are opened at least one of the main body 2 or the folded pieces 4.
