PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the durability of a silent chain by making contact facial pressure of each plate in a guide link row and a joint link row with a sprocket uniform while making shearing strength for tensile load uniform. SOLUTION: A silent chain is constituted by connecting a guide link row GL having two guide plates GP and three first link plates LPo1, LPi1 and a joint link row JL having four second link plates LP2 mutually by a pin P in an endless manner. The pin P passes through the guide plates GP gently with a clearance and is fixed on a stopper plate SP, and a total 2T+t of plate thicknesses of three first link plates LPo1, LPi1 in the guide link row GL is equal to a total 4t of plate thicknesses of four second link plates LP2 in the joint link row JL. Moreover, a plate thickness T of two first link plates LPo1 on the outermost side is larger than a plate thickness t of the second link plate LP2 in the joint link row JL adjacent to inner and outer parts.
