PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an inorganic yellow pigment free from toxic metals including Pb, Cr and Cd, presenting clear yellow color, excellent in heat resistance, chemical resistance and light resistance, having low specific gravity, consisting of compound metal oxide powder composed of Fe, Ti, Li and O and having such crystal phase as to be predominant in pseudobrookite structure. SOLUTION: This heat-resistant yellow pigment powder is such powder as to have the main crystal phase of pseudobrookite structure and the composition formula Fe2-x-yLixTiyTiO5 (0.15<=x<=0.66; and 0.2<=y<=0.86) and comprise 17-55 atom.% of Fe, 40-62 atom.% of Ti and 5-22 atom.% of Li; wherein it is characteristic that at least part of Fe and Ti is substituted by Al and/or Mg. This pigment has an average particle size of 0.1-3μm, BET specific surface area of 0.5-20 m2/g and true specific gravity of 3.6-4.3.
