PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas barrier film excellent in transparency, gas barrier properties and adhesiveness, not losing excellent gas barrier properties even after boiling treatment or retorting treatment, having good bending resistance and strength characteristics sufficiently withstanding even a falling impact and capable of being produced in an industrially advantageous manner. SOLUTION: A gas barrier film is constituted by forming an inorg. vapor deposition layer on one of or both of the A-layers of a substrate polyamide film having layered constitution of A-layer/B-layer or A-layer/B-layer/A-layer. Wherein the A-layer is based on an aliphatic polyamide resin (X) and the B- layer is based on an aliphatic polyamide resin (Y). In this case, a ratio (a)/(b) of the water absorption (a) of the aliphatic polyamide resin (X) and the water absorption (b) of the aliphatic polyamide resin (Y) is set to 0.5 or less.
