PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable decreasing of storing space for chips in a compact size by providing a female screw mechanism fitted to a male mechanism on a compression plate with not less than a male screw mechanism arranged along a compressive direction of the compression plate and controlling driving of drive source by making the male screw mechanism turn. SOLUTION: Chips falling down from a machine tool is thrown into a chip compression chamber. A compression motor 3 rotates forwardly to make a screw A (male screw mechanism) 7 and a screw B (male screw mechanism) 11 rotate through a chain A5 and a chain B9. A nut (female screw mechanism) A15 and a nut (female screw mechanism) B16 fixed to a compression plate are screwed onto a screw A (male screw mechanism) 7 and a screw B (male screw mechanism) 11 and the compression plate is pushed toward a wall. The chips are held and compressed between a compressive receiving plate and the compression plate. When an electric current value of the compressing motor 3 exceeds a prescribed value, the compression motor 3 is made to rotate reversely and the compression plate is made to retreat.
