PURPOSE: An insect- or acarid-repellent formulation is provided which are more potent or longer acting than those of the prior art. CONSTITUTION: An insect- or acarid-repellent formulation comprises a compound of formula (I), wherein R represents straight or branched chain C2-10 alkyl, straight or branched chain C2-10 alkenyl, or straight or branched chain C2-10 alkynyl, which groups are optionally substituted by one or more groups selected from halogen, C4-8 cycloalkyl and C4-8 cycloalkenyl; and a suitable adjuvant, diluent or carrier.
