PURPOSE: A method for specifying a language and a locale is provided to make a user interface display a text as selected human language in a data processing system, not following a series of cultural conventions related with a superior locale than others, and to dynamically convert a user interface views. CONSTITUTION: A method for specifying a language and a locale comprises the steps of: defining a first property controlling selection of a human language used as a user interface text; and defining a second property independent from the first property controlling selection of cultural conventions used as a user interface. Further, the method includes a step to select a set of cultural conventions including date, time, number formatting, currency, and currency formatting for the user interface based on the second property.
