PURPOSE: A method for preparing polyester is provided which provides the polyester having excellent biodegradability, high degree of polymerization, good color and excellent mechanical property. CONSTITUTION: A polyester is prepared by performing an esterification and a polycondensation of aliphatic dicarboxylic acid having 2-14 carbon atoms, polyvalent acid polyvalent alcohol consisting of 3-10 acidic or alcoholic functional groups and aliphatic divalent glycol having 2-14 carbon atoms under complex catalyst comprising titanium compound, metal acetate compound and phosphorous compound.
