PURPOSE: A method for managing statistics data in the ATM(Asynchronous Transfer Mode) switching system is provided to maintain collected statistics data and to output graphically in system down or restarting. CONSTITUTION: An exchange operating system collects statistics data in the memory(S1), and confirms whether a communication fault is generated between the exchange side and an operating server side(S2). If there is no fault between the exchange side and the operating server side, the exchange operating system stores the collected statistics data in the hard disk of the operating server as a file(S3). If a fault is generated, the exchange operating system stores the collected statistics data in the hard disk of the exchange temporally(S4). The exchange operating system confirms at intervals of a required time whether the communication fault is repaired(S5). If the communication between the exchange side and the operating server side has been repaired to normal condition, the exchange operating system copies the statistics data stored in the exchange hard disk to the hard disk of the operating server(S6). The operating server reads a desired statistics data from the hard disk of the operating server and outputs graphically(S7).
