PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain suitable drinking water excellent in medical effectiveness and excellent water as industrial water by incorporating the specific quantity by wt.% of nephrite powder having particle size in the specific range in a nephrite filter for purifying water. SOLUTION: The nephrite powder having 100-350 mesh particle size is added by 5-15% per the whose weight of a ceramic filter base component raw material to form into a spherical body 14. The formed body of the spherical body 14 is left standing at the room temp. for a fixed time to be dried and charged into a heating furnace to be fired at 1200-1400 deg.C. The spherical body 14 finished in firing is taken out from the heating furnace and is glazed by dipping in a glaze, in which 10 wt.% nephrite powder is mixed. The glazed spherical body is further fired at a high temp. of >=1300 deg.C. Many spherical bodies 14 are charged in a filter housing 12 to obtain the nephrite filter 10 for purifying water.
