PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the excitation efficiency of a photocatalyst, and at the same time, efficiently bring the photocatalyst into contact with air containing odor components by filling deodorizing grains containing the photocatalyst having a catalyst reaction to deodorize the odor components in air by ultraviolet rays in a container, and providing a means to stir the deodorizing grains in the container. SOLUTION: A large number of deodorizing grains 3 are filled in a container 5, and an ultraviolet light source 2 is disposed at the central section in the container 5 parallel with the ventilation direction, and a fan 4 is disposed at the lower section of the container 5. Air is fed from the lower direction into this air purifying device 1 by the fan 4, and at the same time, the group of the deodorizing grains 3 in the container 5 is stirred by the air force. Respective deodorizing grains 3 move in the container, and when the grains move to the ultraviolet region from the light source, a photocatalyst contained in the deodorizing grains 3 is excited. Also, respective deodorizing grains 3 collide with air containing odor components, and the odor components are adsorbed by an adsorbing agent contained in the deodorizing grains 3, and the odor components are decomposed by a catalyst reaction by the excitation of the photocatalyst. In this case, the deodorizing grains 3 are formed into a propeller shape.
