PURPOSE: A stopping solenoid of a diesel engine is provided to achieve an enhanced performance while blocking a counter electromotive force and preventing a damage on a contact for a stop signal. CONSTITUTION: A stopping solenoid comprises a coil(46) connected to a power supply, a constant voltage circuit unit(41) for receiving a stop signal from a contact(2) and which stabilizes the received stop signal, a photocoupler(43a) being insulated and which is electrically connected by a stop signal from the circuit unit(41) and outputs the stop signal to a gate driver(44), a timer circuit unit(42) for receiving the stop signal from the circuit unit(41) and outputting the stop signal to a photocoupler(43b), the timer circuit unit(42) automatically operating to block the stop signal outputting to the coupler(43b) after an elapse of a predetermined time period, the photocoupler(43b) being insulated and which is electrically connected by the stop signal from the circuit unit(42) and outputs the stop signal to the gate driver(44) which receives the stop signal from the coupler(43a), judges the received signal and outputs an operation signal to a switching element(45), the switching element(45) switched on/off by the gate driver(44) to excite/degauss the coil(46), and a diode(47) arranged in parallel in the coil(46) so as to form a closed circuit.
