PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a retaining wall construction method capable of filling filler so as to promote work efficiency after a block is additionally piled up even when a retaining wall having a comparatively steel slope is constructed by using a retaining wall constructing block having vertical bar insertion holes and filler filling spaces in a block body. SOLUTION: A retaining wall constructing block, An upper opening type block 30 closing a plane opening section with a wire netting 39 and having a plane opening section and up and down opening type blocks 40 closing a front opening section with a wire netting 49 and having the plane opening section and bottom opening section are used. Then, a footing concrete 13 planting vertical reinforcing bars 12 thereinto at an interval between reinforcing bar insertion holes 32 (42) is provided, the block 30 of the lowest stage is so mounted on the footing concrete 13 that the vertical reinforcing bars 12 are inserted in the reinforcing bar insertion holes 32, and the blocks 40 are successively piled up in two stages on the footing concrete so that the vertical reinforcing bars 12 are inserted into the reinforcing bar insertion holes 42. Spaces 33 and 43 are filled with filler 8 such as ruble stone or residual stone by dropping the filler from the plane opening section 43b of the block 40 on the highest stage. By the constitution, after the blocks are piled up, a batch filling of the filler 8 can be made, and work efficiency can be promoted.
